Professional Experience

Susan has operated her private psychotherapy practice since 1998. Here is a summary of other professional activities and previous healthcare-related roles:

  • 2006 to 2007: Served as a part-time case manager in the Physician's Health Program at the Ontario Medical Association in Toronto.
  • 2004 to 2007: Served as a part-time lecturer on couples therapy, family systems and addictions in the continuing education department at McMaster University in Hamilton.
  • 1999 to 2003: Worked part-time at The Jean Tweed Centre for women in Toronto, first as a family therapist and later serving clients who had completed the program.
  • 1992 to 1999: Worked at The Donwood Institute (later CAMH) where she developed and delivered the Family Outreach Program. For the Youth Outreach Program, between 1994 to 1998 - at the request of the Toronto District School Board and in conjunction with several independent schools - Susan delivered a comprehensive program covering the impact of alcohol and other drugs on individuals and families that was aimed at parents, students and teachers.
  • 1994 to 1998: Co-facilitated the Mandated Abuse Program for the Family Service Association of Toronto for men involved in family violence and the legal system.
  • 1976 to 1998: Worked at several Canadian hospitals and in the areas of healthcare education and management.
