Collaborative Family Practice Information for Couples
Who it's for:
- For couples at the stage of wishing to discontinue couples psychotherapy and seeking to dissolve their relationship.
- For couples who are beginning a collaborative process.
- For one of the partners who seeks support during a collaborative process.
How Susan can help:
- Prior to entering a collaborative process: Susan can work with the couple to determine with them if indeed the marriage is over, and if so work with one partner or both together to decrease feelings of anger and guilt, thus allowing them to enter the process more readily.
- During a collaborative process: Susan can work with either one partner or both together to address hurt feelings and help achieve a sense of closure about the relationship. As appropriate, she can assess how the relationship breakdown has impacted the children, and provide recommendations for their emotional support.
